The table below summarizes the results of the vir-
tual desktop benchmarking that was conducted us-
ing the methodology described in section 3 above.
For a dual processor R2200 blade, 6 GB of RAM
provides the best price/performance ratio for vir-
tualized desktops. Because of the sophisticated
VMware ESX3 memory management, you can
lightly “over-subscribe” physical memory and still
have this conguration easily support 12 VMs in a
typical ofce worker situation.
